New Poem for Spring

Sap Rising

We lie enclosed
In our two-big bed
We watch dawns forced entry
Wonder at love left un-said
Sap rising

Bow-saw us in two
Our deep ochre rings
And marvel
At the loss of all things

A forest
Quiet as
A summer day
Waits beyond the glass
Has misted all away

We lie obscured
In our two-big bed
Downed and pillowed
Behind eyes
A flood of red
Sap rising
