John Gower, now there was a fine 14th Century poet

2014-01-27 15.39.05I had to make a trip to London on Monday, to London Bridge. On the Southern bank of the river, by the bridge, sits Southwark Cathedral. On the North side of the building there is this wonderful tomb which celebrates the life and work of John Gower, poet and author of the English Confessio Amantis, the Latin Vox Clamantis and the French Speculum Meditantis. 2014-01-27 15.38.50Of hem that writen ous tofore
